Dr.Web Anti-Theft

Top  Previous  Next

Dr.Web Anti-theft locks your device and tracks its location if it is lost or stolen. You can manage Anti-theft remotely with special predefined SMS commands.

You can send SMS commands from any phone number or from phone numbers you have added to the Buddies list in Dr.Web Anti-theft.

The Buddies list is a list of trusted phone numbers that you compile when you enable and configure Anti-theft. From these numbers, you can send SMS commands to remotely control Anti-theft.

Dr.Web Anti-theft also responds to commands sent from any phone number even if it is not your buddy, but in this case you have to specify your account password in the message. This ensures that nobody will be able to unlock your device and access your data.

To manage Anti-theft features, use your Dr.Web account password. The password is required:

to unlock your device if it is locked by Dr.Web Anti-theft;

to access Dr.Web Anti-theft settings.

When you open the settings screen of Dr.Web Anti-theft, you see a prompt to set Dr.Web as the device administrator. Set Dr.Web as administrator to ensure Dr.Web Anti-theft operates correctly.

This completes the initial configuration of Dr.Web Anti-theft. If no errors occurred during the registration, you will see Dr.Web Anti-theft settings screen (see Figure 16). Otherwise, you will see a description of the error. In this case Dr.Web Anti-theft will not be enabled on your device.

Logging on to Dr.Web Anti-Theft

info

If you upgrade to version 12, your Dr.Web Anti-theft password automatically becomes your Dr.Web account password.

To open Dr.Web Anti-theft settings, enter Dr.Web account password. If Dr.Web account is not yet configured on your device, you will be prompted to create it.

If you enter an incorrect password 10 times in a row, the password field will be temporarily blocked. You will see how much time left until the next attempt.

If your device features a fingerprint sensor and your finger print is registered on your device, you can open the settings without the password. Make sure the fingerprint sign is available next to the password field. Then touch the sensor.

Note that if Parental Control is enabled on your device, you will not be able to log on to Dr.Web Anti-theft with a fingerprint.
